Meet Pat Monahan — Wheelhouse Creative video production specialist extraordinaire
Video production specialist Pat Monahan loves a challenge.
That’s why he fits in perfectly at Wheelhouse Creative LLC.
It’s also good he loves a challenge because his competitive brother, creative director Joe Monahan, works by his side. They push each other — which benefits the entire Wheelhouse team and – especially – the marketing agency’s clients.
A native of Martins Ferry, Ohio, Pat Monahan went to high school at Bridgeport High School before earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Ohio State University.
And those challenges?
“The most challenging part of my job is every project is different and therefore presents new tests,” Pat said. “That’s why I love the creative industry. There is no single answer, but there are many possible solutions. You must figure one out based on your knowledge and experience.
“Having worked in almost every aspect of production and postproduction over the years, I can tell you there is no shortage of challenges – and that’s exciting!”
Pat’s talents are many. Directing, editing, 3D animation, visual effects, cinematography, and camera operation are his main focuses. Yet he also is proficient in photography, graphic motion design and concept development.
He pushes his brother Joe. And brother Joe pushes Pat.
“Having my brother as a colleague is an asset for our company,” said Pat. “Having worked with each other for years, we know how each other thinks. We’re able to toss ideas back and forth with ease. Having a common interest in this business affords us the ability to work with the same energy and passion and push one another.
“Being related we tend to see eye-to-eye, but it’s also easier to challenge each in order to create better ideas.”
As you can tell, Pat Monahan is passionate about his work. Part of that is because he enjoys his work.
“The best projects are the ones that send us to new destinations,” he said. “From collaborating with athletes at the WVU stadium and university to partnering with the National Institute of Justice in Washington, D.C., for a body armor project to orchestrating and executing the production shoot of a concert in Pittsburgh, it’s all fun. With each new project we are constantly excited by the unpredictability that lies ahead.”
Pat Monahan was instrumental on the award-winning DeNoon Lumber commercial that captured the Ohio Valley’s imagination with its Noah’s Ark depiction. (“I’m very proud of that,” he said.) It’s just one example of Pat’s fine work and that of Wheelhouse Creative LLC.
“To potential clients, Wheelhouse is the place to go for originality, diverse ideas and experience,” said Pat. “It’s different here because we have talent at every level and we bring unique skill sets in 3D animation, visual effects, cinematography, editing, graphic design and creative ideas.”
