A labor of love: Working with Oglebay on the amazing upcoming summer events
We very much enjoy working with our friends at Oglebay and the Oglebay Foundation. And we’re especially excited to be working with them on the upcoming summer events.
If you don’t live in the Wheeling, W.Va., area, Oglebay is a 2,000-acre public park, offering year-round recreational activities and overnight accommodations. It’s been studied by planners worldwide as the only self-supporting public municipal park in operation in the United States. A tribute to Earl W. Oglebay, its success is an amazing achievement by the Wheeling Park Commission and a credit to the many benefactors and organizations involved in its growth.
Wendy Hodorowski, Wheelhouse Creative LLC’s Oglebay Marketing Director, does a great job promoting events, etc., and this summer is no different.
A special event on the near horizon is the third annual Backyard BBQ Festival, which will feature platinum country music sensation Rodney Atkins on May 25, 2024, at Oglebay’s Camp Russel. The festival, however, will span from May 24 to May 26 with a delightful blend of tantalizing food, refreshing beer and bourbon, electrifying live music, and showcase of top-notch barbeque from across the nation.
“With the Backyard BBQ we put together an entire marketing campaign with billboards, web, social, digital ads, commercials, radio, etc.,” said Hodorowski.
FYI, tickets for the Rodney Atkins performance will be available starting March 14, 2024, for $45 at this site: Oglebay Backyard BBQ. You can stay updated on all the activities for adults and kids alike at the same site.
Bob Peckenpaugh, President & CEO of the Wheeling Park Commission, said, “This signature summer event has something for everyone. The last two years have been a lot of fun, and we are excited to bring this event back for the third year in a row.”
But that’s not all that’s starting on May 24. Wheelhouse Creative is helping to promote FunFest Fridays. See here for info and lineups.
Those festivities will kick off on Friday, May 24, at 6 p.m. with an electrifying live performance by Twice as Nice at 7 p.m. Attendees are invited to immerse themselves in evenings of excitement, activities, and food for all ages every Friday from 6-9 p.m. throughout the summer. There will be live concerts, a kids’ fun zone, food trucks and beer gardens available.
Not enough fun for you? No problem.
Oglebay’s Sunday Funday Concert Series is back. The summer shindig kicks off on June 2 and goes all the way through Sept. 1 featuring 14 performances at Oglebay’s Anne Kuchinka Amphitheater. Information is available at Oglebay Sunday-Funday Concerts.
“We promote FunFest Fridays and the Sunday Funday Concert Series through social and on the website,” said Hodorowski. “We want to make sure all our friends have a great summer. And you can certainly do that through Oglebay.”
