Wheelhouse’s Wendy Hodorowski — focused, driven, results-oriented
One of the greatest aspects of Wheelhouse Creative LLC is our unique makeup. We are free thinkers. We look for perfect fits. And whatever it takes to serve our clients, hey, we’re in.
Which perfectly describes account executive Wendy Hodorowski and her relationship with clients Oglebay and the Oglebay Foundation.
“Oglebay is like home to me,” she said. “My first job was at Oglebay. I worked the refreshment stand at Schenk Lake almost 30 years ago. I also worked at the Par 3 course and the Good Zoo. I’ve walked the dozens of trails, fished at the lake, ridden the paddle boats, played many rounds of mini-golf, watched the fireworks, attended Oglebayfest MANY times and — believe it or not — got a hole in one a long time ago on the Par 3 course!”
She’s all in on Oglebay and, actually, all ON the resort.
“My job is unique because unlike the other account executives at Wheelhouse, I’m on property every day at Oglebay, my client,” she said. “I integrate within the company and experience their culture. I manage all the marketing and communications including development of concepts, media planning and press releases.”
It’s a labor of love for Wendy.
“Coming to work and getting to see the sunrise on a beautiful morning at Oglebay is my favorite part of my day,” she said. “I love walking outside at lunch when the weather is nice and just taking in all the natural beauty. I love the people here. I love how friendly everyone is. I love walking Wilson Lodge and seeing people enjoying their vacations, knowing I may have played a small part in getting them here. I love the events we prepare for here and getting to see all our hard work in promoting them pay off.”
To say Wendy Hodorowski is a go-getter would be selling her short. She’s a focused, driven, results-oriented executive who spent 16 years creating, planning, and setting the strategic direction of internal and external communications at The Health Plan. She was also an entrepreneur who did a short stint as a Dove Chocolatier and owns “Wendyfully Decorated Cookies.” In her spare time, she bakes and decorates sugar cookies for special occasions. Oh, and an avid WVU fan, she follows the Mountaineers and helps the award-winning St. Clairsville Red Devil high school band and color guard. Her children range in age from 25 to 16.
“I was born and raised in West Virginia,” she said. “I grew up in Bethlehem. Graduated from Wheeling Park. The Ohio Valley is my home. I love to travel but I love to come home. There is something about seeing that ‘Wild, Wonderful’ sign when you enter the state. I may live across the river now in St. Clairsville, but my heart is as a Mountaineer.”
Wendy joined Wheelhouse in September of 2021 and hit the proverbial ground running. She was very well-prepared though.
“My time at The Health Plan prepared me for the various day-to-day operations for Oglebay,” she said. “I was responsible for creating and overseeing the design and production of print materials, publications, and websites. I also planned, directed, and set the strategic direction of marketing programs for the entire organization.”
She fit right in at Wheelhouse. And she’s seen all that our agency can offer.
“The creative team at Wheelhouse is great to work with,” she said. “I can be quite demanding because Oglebay events can change on a dime, and we always need stuff ASAP. They are great at pivoting with me and taking it all in.
“(Director of Media) Ty Thorngate is also great to work with. He makes sure the media buys align well with the mission of Oglebay and we sit down regularly to discuss them and how to make it better. I think in general, more people, especially small businesses should know Wheelhouse offers a lot and can customize just about anything you need because we have someone for anything you may need – digital, print, web, video, reels, PR, etc.”
