Wheelhouse Creative LLC and internships: Lydia Kellas
Wheelhouse Creative LLC is a place that fosters creativity. We’re known for our ability to come up with different solutions and unique ideas for clients.
It’s also a great place, however, for learning. Our team members are always curious and inquisitive. Research and creativity go hand in hand here. That makes Wheelhouse a great place to learn via an internship.
This summer we landed quite a gem in former Wheeling Park High (2020 graduate) and WVU (2024) student Lydia Kellas.
To say Lydia has fit in nicely would be an understatement.
“I initially heard about Wheelhouse from a friend who recommended it to me as an internship opportunity,” she said. “I instantly did some research and discovered that Wheelhouse is a GREAT place to be an intern.”
A Wheeling native and recent college graduate, Kellas was searching for a foothold, a way to get experience.
“I’ve always loved all things creative,” she said. “Photography, videography, social media, and graphic design are my passions. In mid-May, I graduated from WVU with a bachelor’s degree in advertising and public relations and a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications.
“My internship at Wheelhouse has been the perfect bridge between academic and real-world experience, allowing me to put my knowledge into practice. Ultimately, I hope to have a career in the creative field, and maybe even one day, the role of creative director.”
For now, Lydia is helping pitch in while account executive Olivia Silverio has been on maternity leave.
“Since Olivia’s maternity leave began, I’ve had the opportunity to step into an interim AE role for Bordas & Bordas,” Kellas said. “It’s been a rewarding experience managing blog content, social media, press releases, and coordinating sponsorships/events.
“While adapting to this new responsibility has been challenging (Olivia is a tough act to follow!), it’s also been incredibly engaging and educational. Representing the firm at public events and award ceremonies has been a highlight.”
Again, Lydia has been able to lean on her co-workers.
“The staff at Wheelhouse has been encouraging and has helped me every step of the way,” she said. “They are always willing to answer any questions I may have. Their professional guidance and the learning opportunities they’ve provided have aided in my professional growth. I really enjoy working with the staff every day.”
Her message?
“Wheelhouse fosters professional growth and development,” she said. “For me, Wheelhouse has been a place to learn about marketing and develop my advertising skills. However, I’ve seen first-hand that Wheelhouse is also a place of growth and development for clients and businesses alike. I’d strongly suggest giving us a call to grow your business.”
