Versatile graphic designer Matt Myles a perfect symbol for Wheelhouse Creative
Wheelhouse Creative LLC graphic designer Matt Myles is always busy.
Like always.
A native of Warwood in Wheeling, W.Va., Myles probably wears more hats than anyone at the marketing agency.
Want a top-shelf website designed? Matt is the man. Digital and print graphics? Matt. Logo design? Social media? Matt. Oh, and photography? Yep. Matt Myles.
Matt loves his photography work, on which he first cut his teeth in the business.
“I went to West Liberty University and got my bachelor’s degree in graphic design, but I first got into design in high school,” he said. “It started with a photography class my freshman year and from there I learned composition and the elements of photography that went to photo editing and photo manipulation.
“From there I kept taking classes like that and realized I wanted to do graphic design my junior, senior years. I started taking more classes offered at Wheeling Park, then went to West Liberty.”
Myles worked on his craft and co-founded the design firms Neue and Chiselbox before moving to Wheelhouse in February of 2020, right before the pandemic hit.
These days his work is among the most recognizable in West Virginia and the northeast.
So, what is it he does in layman’s terms?
“To put it simply, I’m in the Pretty Pictures Department,” he said with a smile. “We design logos and different print and digital advertisements. Basically, we do anything you see selling a product or service. We can and do it all for our clients.”
It’s a labor of love for Matt Myles.
“My favorite thing is seeing a project come together from start to finish,” he said. “Starting with a concept for a logo that turns into a brand for a company, an entity, that turns into an advertising campaign that keep expanding. I love seeing it all the way through and watching our clients flourish.”
Matt received a lot of statewide acclaim for his design, implementation, and maintenance of the Country Roads Trust website, used by the Name, Image and Likeness collective of Myles’ beloved West Virginia University. (https://countryroadstrust.com)
“The Country Roads Trust website definitely stands out,” Matt said. “There’s been several iterations of that. It’s evolved. It’s something we’ve helped our client exceed expectations.”
As mentioned, though, Matt loves photography.
“I’ve been doing more photography recently, which is where I’ve been gravitating,” he said. “I started out there as a freshman in high school and thought that’s all I wanted before branching out. Now it’s coming full circle. I’m sure it will continue to evolve.”
His photography path has led to work on U.S. Senator candidate Glenn Elliott.
“To work on a statewide race for Senate is something not everyone gets to work on,” Myles said. “It’s exciting.”
Matt Myles is a perfect representation of Wheelhouse Creative LLC. Both offer many aspects of advertising/marketing.
It’s Matt’s hope more people get to know all we can offer.
“I’d like people to know we can do more than create advertisements,” Myles said. “We can help with the whole process of marketing and advertising, from creating the concepts through the execution. I really want potential clients to know it’s not just the design aspect. It’s the full gamut.”
