Getting creative at Wheelhouse: An event? Why not cross-promote too?
Those that work with Wheelhouse will tell you our last name fits us perfectly: Creative. And here’s an example.
Each year we’re tasked by clients Bordas & Bordas to help with the law firm’s Amateur Golf Classic. It’s a wonderful event that not only brings golfers together – some from as far away as Arizona – but funds raised give area youth summer access to Oglebay Park. The Oglebay Foundation’s Access to the Parks program is the beneficiary of the tournament. It allows local children who would not otherwise be able to afford to go to the park and/or Wheeling Park access to enjoy many activities throughout the summer months.
So, it’s a work of love for the Wheelhouse Creative LLC team. We help with anything from landing corporate sponsors and tee signs to designing and securing signage and even helping at Oglebay’s Crispin course on the weekend of the event, which this year is June 8-9.
It’s the oldest amateur tournament in West Virginia’s Ohio Valley with multiple flights and an every-year goal of up to 200 golfers.
Yet aside from the goodwill of gathering and the good works for the children of the Ohio Valley, Wheelhouse Creative also weaves in cross-promotion for our clients.
Of course, title sponsor Bordas & Bordas gets high visibility not only to those participating, but to those following reports in the newspapers, TV stations, radio and online.
Oglebay and the Oglebay Foundation (both Wheelhouse clients) are front and center.
Client Panhandle Cleaning & Restoration is a major sponsor.
It’s a time for all to pitch in for a good cause, like clients Alpha Tavern/Undos, Liberty Distributors and the Moundsville Sleep Inn, all of which contribute tee signs. (Sixty businesses, in fact, helped with the signs this year.)
It’s a cross-promotion boon. Plus, there’s exposure to the other major sponsors like Abraham & Company, The Health Plan, The Appliance Connection, Generations and Community Bank.
It’s an opportunity for folks like Floyd Shuler, who has played in the event for 40 years (and whose daughter Amy Shuler Goodwin is mayor of Charleston), to again hit the course. It’s an opportunity for event chairman Scott Blass and director Dan Tennant to once again put on a first-class tournament.
And it’s another creative way Wheelhouse earns its last name. Give us a call today at 304-905-6005.
